A wonderful long hiliday weekend!
Thursday, Friday, Saturday
& Sunday evenings
!

This is a really big event weekend with non-stop action including a Parade, a Ball, and NNS Party, a Fruit Party and an evening Stage Show. We'll have a big fire at the Rec Hall & the disco will be going strong from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings.

If you have not made weekend reservations you might call the reservation office after 10 a.m. any day to find out if we have a site available. At this writing we had two sites left so act quickly by calling 570-756-2007. If you could not make reservations earlier you might call reservations to see if any sites are now open for the July 4 weekend.

You will not want to miss the Friday Pride Parade beginning at 3 p.m. from the Village Circle. Bring a group to camp and plan to enter in the parade that will snake around the three miles of roadway within the camp gate. Or enjoy watching the entries as they try to impress. Also Friday you will want to attend the "Summer Fruit Party" at site 31 on Smith Lane from 5 to 7 p.m. We are excited DJ Hi-Fi will provide the music for this popular event.

Saturday is busy with the 1 to 4 p.m. NNS Party at its site. DJ Hi-Fi will provide the music. Then -- what everyone is waiting for -- the 16th annual Debutante Ball begins at 5 p.m. on the Landing Strip. The theme is "Sweet 16 & never been _____." We guarantee you will have a fantastic time with your camp family & friends during this summer holiday.

Saturday's Stage Show
is at 8:30 p.m. at the Rec Hall. Performer sign up will be at the Rec Hall at noon. Please have your music ready at that time.

Sunday
at 1 p.m. join campers at the Rec Hall for Bingo!

Sunday
at 6 p.m. join campers for a potluck dinner party! Cafe Ron & staff are hosting this event.

---------- Did you hear the news? ----------
Hillside Campgrounds is the BEST!
We have received word from "the complete bear" that Hillside Campgrounds was named the Best Bear Campsite for the second year in a row. Also the camp was named the Best Bear Accommodations, according to Mike Doherty, who announced the awards Jan. 5 for that group.

"We cannot thank campers enough for voting for Hillside," says Hillside owner Dave. "I'm told we had some stiff competition including two other campgrounds in Pennsylvania. I'm very pleased for our campers and staff. It's wonderful to be recognized for doing what we love to do for almost 24 years."

To be included in the 21 categories an organization or person must first be nominated. Once the nomination deadline arrives folks can go to "Bear Bones," a popular bear blog, to vote for category nominees.

Our good friends at the
Northeast Ursamen  were honored as the Best Bear Club/Organization. To go to the Ursamen's Web site click HERE.

For a complete list of winners scroll down the site's opening page by clicking  HERE. This is a new site since the group recently moved. Check it out!

LET US SAVE YOU MONEY FOR THE SEASON!

HILLSIDE HAS NOT INCREASED CAMPING FEES for several years and camp owner Dave plans to keep it that way for 2009 in hopes it will continue to help Hillsiders. This is being done even with the cost of gas finally going down as of early November 2008. Hopefully gas prices will continue decrease or stableise during the summer.

Camp business has been excellent for the 2008 season, Dave says, "so that has nothing to do with the reason to keep fees the same. We don't have to keep fees the same year after year but I want to do it for the campers," he says.

Dave announced the continued fee freeze during the "perfect" Labor Day Weekend. "It's easy for me to say costs of doing business has increased each year because it has, but that doesn't mean I have to pass these increases on to campers," he says.

Having a lower fee structure than other campgrounds isn't an attempt to get more men from those facilities but that seems to be what's happening for the 2008 season.

Dave understands the importance of providing a good product.  He has increased the staff in recent years to keep up with the demand. More staffing changes will be made for the 2009 season, if things go well. Specifics will be announced in before the 2009 season opens May 1.

Dave admits he doesn't have to raise fees to cover the costs of doing business. "It's taken us a very long time to get where we are today and now I want to share some of the benefits with campers," he says.

Freezing fees is Dave's way of trying to save all campers money where it really matters.

Hopefully these cost savings will help YOU to continue to visit Hillside.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!

CAMP CONTINUES EXCITING TRADITION; SERVES MORE MEN WITH FUN ACTIVITIES
HILLSIDE IS THE LARGEST and, we think, best all-male campgrounds in North America. We take this challenge seriously and continue to make changes and improvements from season to season. The 2009 season, which begins Friday, May 1 at 10 a.m., is the camp's 24th year.

Hillside is an attitude-free environment and we wish to keep it that way. It's a place where men can be themselves in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Hillside is all about individual rights, respect and caring and to be a Hillsider is special to thousands of men each year. We ask that all Hillsiders help us keep it that way.
Hillside members must be at least 21 years old. A picture ID is required showing birth date when the membership form is signed.

Located on more than 235 secluded acres with over three miles of walkable roads, visitors can always find something to do.
Excellent camping sites exist throughout Hillside with some ideal campsites along the shaded creek that runs through the campground.

I
f fun-in-the-sun is what you want there are sites on the Landing Strip located almost in the middle of the camp. For those who want to get away there are a few remote sites.

Most sites have water and electric with clean rest rooms nearby, flush toilets, showers and a pure water supply.

For groups there are very large sites that can accommodate groups of 80 or more campers. Also, Hillside has an incredible safe and secure 45-acre play area, isolated from the outside world. It is the largest safe and secure area of its kind on the North American continent!

The camp is clothing optional. A popular place to relax and meet old and new friends is around the in-ground pool where you can swim or just enjoy the sun. The pool's official opening is Memorial Day weekend but if the weather cooperates it's been known to open even sooner than that.

Friday and Saturday nights you can dance at the disco located in the Rec Hall. If dancing is not for you, you can star gaze by the huge bonfire from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. or relax at your site.
On show nights the Rec Hall stage is spotlighted to showcase the hidden talents of campers. On show nights the bonfire and disco start at the conclusion of the show.

If you plan to camp at Hillside for a weekend, reservations are a must (note information on reservation page), otherwise you may find we are fully booked. No reservations are needed for day campers.

Sites and rental cabins are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you wait too long you might be able to get a site but it may not be the type of site that best suits you.
